Consisting of two levels of classes—one for pure beginners (refreshing their knowledge of the aleph-bet and “decoding” Hebrew words) and another for those with more advanced Hebrew skills—we’ll engage in a marathon Sunday session, either December 3 or February 4*. Devoted primarily to assist congregants in davening in Hebrew as well as reading and comprehension, those interested in the basic level can also enroll in a class to receive follow-up guided practice sessions to hone the skills they acquire. The Level 1 session will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Level 2 class will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Level 1: Elementary decoding, with Rabbi Peretz Rodman, PhD. Dr. Rodman
is a Hebrew educator based in Jerusalem and has a PhD in Bible studies from Brandeis University.
Level 2: Advanced skills (Hebrew translation, comprehension) taught by
Rav Shai Cherry.
The Hebrew Jumpstart is free of charge. There will be a lunch break from noon to 1:00 PM.
In addition, if you sign up for the Level 1 (elementary) Jumpstart, you have the opportunity to register for a 4-week series of follow-on classes with Rav Hazzan Glantz free of charge. The follow-on classes for the December Hebrew Jumpstart are scheduled for four Thursday evenings: January 4, 11, 18, and 25.
Please complete a form for each person attending.
*The February Hebrew Jumpstart, Levels 1 and 2, will be held for three consecutive Sundays (February 4, 11, and 18), from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
