AJWA Sisterhood

The AJWA is not just your grandmother’s sisterhood! Our members are mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, aunts, nieces, friends, teenagers, preschool moms, empty-nesters, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. We are women of all ages and all stages joining together to enhance life at AJ and beyond; making a difference, learning, and having fun while doing it! For more information, contact our AJWA Sisterhood President: Karen Moses, at karedlon@aol.com.

ROBYN ORODENKER AND SYLVIA C. COHEN BOOK CLUB
The Robyn Orodenker and Sylvia C. Cohen Book Club chooses seven books each year to read in addition to the "One Book, One Jewish Community" selection in the spring, and a casual dinner in June. The group is led by Liane Sher (215.620.4429) and Idelle Wood (eyewoodis@gmail.com) and it meets about once a month on Monday evenings via Zoom. *One Book, One Jewish Community engages readers from across Greater Philadelphia in books that speak to diverse aspects of Jewish identity and community. One Book, which launched in 2006 as an initiative of Jewish Outreach Partnership (now Jewish Learning Venture) has been led by Gratz College since 2019.

TORAH FUND
The aim of Torah Fund is to provide every individual with the opportunity to participate in the preservation, promotion, and joy of Conservative/Masorti Judaism through active giving to the Torah Fund campaign of Women's League for Conservative Judaism. Supported by the AJWA Sisterhood, Torah Fund contributions help develop rabbis who offer wisdom and leadership; cantors who enhance the beauty of prayer; educators who transmit the richness of our heritage to our children and grandchildren; professors of Jewish studies at our children’s universities; deeply knowledgeable professionals who serve our community; and lay leaders who are informed, educated, and committed Jews. The primary fundraising event is the Annual Torah Fund Brunch that honors an AJWA Sisterhood member. To learn more, contact AJ’s Torah Fund Chair Merril Stup at  tantemem@aol.com.

Other activities sponsored by AJWA Sisterhood can be found here.
