Adult Education Committee Presents Judy Klitsner - Form

AJ is thrilled to be welcoming master educator Judy Klitsner as Scholar-in-Residence for the weekend of March 17–19! We have three events planned with Ms. Klitsner that you won't want to miss. All events are free for AJ members and $18 per person for non-members.

The Friday evening event ("The Dueling Stories of Noah and Jonah: How Similar Stories Say Opposite Things About Human Transformation" will be part of Kabbalat Shabbat services beginning at 6:15 PM. A Shabbat dinner will follow.

The Saturday afternoon event will begin with lunch following services, at approximately 12:30 PM, during which Judy will share her experiences with promoting women’s roles in Orthodox prayer groups. After lunch, a teaching session ("Brothers Crying Out from the Ground: The Biblical Origins of Our Divided Society") will follow lunch.

The Sunday morning event ("The Patriarch and the Priest: Why Do Jewish Leaders Have Non-Jewish Mentors?") starts with brunch at 10:00 AM.

Klitsner is senior lecturer on Bible study at the Pardes Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem and has lectured extensively throughout the world at universities and synagogues. An author of several books, including Subversive Sequels in the Bible: How Biblical Stories Mine and Undermine Each Other, she lends her accessible and engaging interactive style of presentation to an exploration of the “vibrant conversations” that take place between the Bible’s many parallel stories.
