Kathleen A. Balgley’s Letters to My Father: Excavating a Jewish Identity in Poland and Belarus is a richly evocative memoir of the belated retrieval of Jewish identity. Ms. Balgley spent years as a Fulbright Scholar in communist Poland, solidifying her connection to the place of her father’s birth. Balgley charts her hunt for her family roots while exploring the living traditions of Judaism that were absent from her upbringing. Balgley will read from Letters to My Father and reflect on the process of writing her story. Saturday, November 12, following 4:30 PM evening services (light faire before program).
