COVID-19 Policies and Guidelines at AJ

Our current COVID-19 guidelines as of March 2024 are:

On March 1, 2024, the CDC significantly modified, and simplified, its policies and recommendations regarding COVID-19. Policies for COVID-19 are now combined with those for other significant respiratory illnesses (e.g., flu, RSV, others). CDC’s rationale for these changes can be found here and here.

Vaccinations and boosters: While all those eligible to receive COVID, flu, and RSV vaccinations and boosters are strongly encouraged to do so, vaccination is not a requirement to attend AJ services and events.

Masking: Wearing a mask remains at the discretion of the individual. We ask that such a decision made by an individual member be respected by all AJ members and staff.

Those with symptoms of upper respiratory infection (coughing, congestion, runny nose, sore throat) are asked to remain at home until your symptoms improve. (We recommend that you perform a home antigen test for COVID-19 and, if positive, consider consulting your physician about the use of Paxlovid or similar antiviral medication if you are eligible.)

If you have a known close contact with someone who has or soon develops COVID-19, you do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms, but please remain masked for 5 days while in the AJ building. Test yourself on day 5. If your test on day 5 is negative and you have not developed symptoms, you may remove your mask at AJ.

If you test positive and/or become ill with COVID-19 or any other significant respiratory illness (flu, RSV, etc.), you may not enter the AJ building until at least twenty-four (24) hours after resolution of fever and your symptoms are getting better. In order to protect the health of others, you are expected to exercise your own good judgment in interpreting what is meant by “symptoms are getting better.”  When you do return to the AJ building you must wear a high-quality mask for five (5) days.

Thank you for helping our community healthy and safe.
