AJWA Sisterhood Art Exhibition and Workshop at JAC

AJ is excited to once again partner with mixed-media artist Diana T. Myers (Denise Portner’s aunt) to share a day of art viewing and making. Congregants are invited to join Ms. Myers at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 9, for a private viewing of her new exhibit, “I Made it,” at The Old City Jewish Art Center (JAC), 119 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia.

A retrospective celebrating her 80th birthday, the exhibit features Ms. Myers’ prints, collages, sculptures and assemblages on subjects including “Roots,” “Tikkun Olam,” and “The Shape of Memory.” Also included will be 25 small works by collaborating artists on the subject of “Home” to commemorate her 50-year career in affordable housing. Proceeds of the sale of the “Home” pieces will benefit Pathways to Housing PA, providing housing for individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

Following a tour of the exhibit, participants will be invited to create theirown mixed-media artwork using materials provided, as well as found objects brought from home such as photographs, greeting cards, fabric, toys, string, keys, tools, and other whatnots, with direction from Ms. Myers.

The cost is $10 per person. Transportation to the JAC is the responsibility of the attendee.
